Unique collection of crofter’s cottages in a living countryside

In the valley beneath the mountain Ålleberg you’ll find Åsle Tå – Sweden’s largest collection of crofter’s cottages. The cottages remain on their original plots, along the winding road Tågatan and the river Kolaforsen. Here, you can walk around the cottages and enjoy the old-fashioned environment. Step inside and experience the authentic interiors, visit the old smithy, the waterwheel and the barn. And not least – read the short but interesting tales about the strong personalities who once lived here and about their hard lives. Åsle Tå is a unique museum, which makes a bygone, poorer era come to life.

Café Åsle Tå is everything from kiosk to restaurant. It serves good, home-cooked food: choose between light snacks, pies, home baked bread, wonderful sandwiches and more. Next to the restaurant is the craft shop, where you can buy souvenirs, locally produced farm products and crafts from the local area. During the summer months there are quiz walks and various activities on Sundays. Don’t forget to take one of the guided tours of Åsle Tå. This is when the stories about for example Haltaskiftes Maja and Hommans-Nisa really come to life!
